EcoScape, A Virtual World Environmental Art Installation

I recently had the pleasure of checking out an art installation called EcoScape in Nice, Atoll, Secondlife. I felt it was quite striking because it hits home on an emotional level. Eleven artists were featured at the time of this writing. Their works tackle environmental issues and the pieces are so rich and diverse I thought it best if I just showed you how extraordinary they actually are. Hence this short film, (8 mins isn’t too long.., is it?) entitled EcoScape, A Virtual World Environmental Art Installation.

Each work shows either the consequences of ignoring our most pressing environmental issues today or provides the benefits of protecting our environment right now. Not only thought provoking but also hauntingly beautiful in some cases, there is always something to learn while taking the pieces in. What happens after over population and we’ve exhausted our planets resources? What would that look like? How important are trees, or insects, or clean water? Through the magic of the virtual, this exhibit lets you experience what your life might unfortunately become in the future if we don’t address these problems. The consistent question throughout this experience is basically, like this? Or like this? Blue skies, green grass, and sparkling water or.., emptiness, barren like the setting itself for this dystopian installation. This is a definite must see and will be up for awhile. Here’s a list of the participating artists and the address:

Duna Gant, Melodie Heart, Enrico Lecker, Asmita Duranjaya, Lalie Sorbet, Pearl Grey Klaus, June Clavenham, Kala Kurawa Kuveni, Alo (Aloisio Confrejo) Elle Thorkveld, Betty Tureaud.

Special thanks to Asmita Duranjaya for answering all my questions and providing artists with space to create over the years. Also, film isn’t normally my medium although I sure loved making this, keep that in mind please.
