A must-see, Freedom Of A Flower By Terrygold!
Hauntingly beautiful, this dark and vibrant installation by Terrygold takes SL art to a whole other level. I absolutely admire when an art piece uses the surrounding environment to become a complete experience and Freedom Of A Flower does precisely that. Streets, walls, and even phone booths become an intricate part of this installation. When we see art incorporated into an actual life installation it’s often a feeling of pure delight that knocks our collective socks off. Although being in a virtual world makes something like this a more natural transition, (as we expect things to be NPIRL.) it is nonetheless exciting.
I am outside the world of false wonder.

Freedom of A Flower takes us through a dark street lined with the two-dimensional artworks of the artist. Along this road, flowers grow from unexpected places, windows, trash bins, phone booths which tie into the art. Intermittently there are writings on the walls which give us a glimpse into the workings of the artist’s mind as well as perhaps, an explanation of their vision. “I live, like most of you, in this world of concrete… But I don’t feel part of this system… Outside. I am outside of this world of false wonder.”
I’ll leave the rest to you to interpret as you may. But Terrygold is an extremely talented SL artist and the journey through this installation took my breath away. I’m sure you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Terrygold doesn’t have an inworld store or website and only exhibits in Secondlife. There are however other art installations you can enjoy after Freedom Of A Flower, one of which is Memory, a brutally honest look at a specific moment and the memory it left behind.
